NATIONAL RESEARCH CENTRE ON HUMAN EVOLUTION

Since June 2009, the CENIEH has its own premises located in the heart of Burgos, by Paseo Sierra de Atapuerca. Together with the Museum of Human Evolution and the Convention Centre, the CENIEH building forms part of a relevant complex both in the national and international arena. This architectural ensemble has been designed by the architect Juan Navarro Baldeweg.

The construction and equipment of the CENIEH is the result of a joint effort made by the Ministry of Education and Science and the Regional Government Junta de Castilla y León, as well as the Council of Burgos with the aim of providing an appropriate environment for research. For this purpose, it will harbour, amongst other, the newest technologies and three large areas for laboratories, research rooms and modules, a library and enough room to gather its fossil collections and lithic records under the best conditions of storage and security. Besides, each Research Program will be formed by an adequate and innovative scientific equipment to pursue its research activities.
