NATIONAL RESEARCH CENTRE ON HUMAN EVOLUTION

The main objective of the Conservation and Restoration Area of the CENIEH is to support the Research Pograms that are developed at the Centre.

For this purpose, its facilities are adapted to prepare the collections in store that come from archaeological and paleontological sites in order to facilitate the study of these remains to the researchers.

The collections that the CENIEH harbours are a unique source that must be preserved in time. The Restoration Area´s main task is to preserve these fragile materials. For this purpose, several strategies are developed in order to achieve an adequate physical and environmental conditioning that stabilizes their degradation. Besides, other conservation and dissemination measures are adopted concerning the collections, such as the creation of copies that contain relevant information of the most representative originals that the Centre keeps.
