Call Electron Spin Resonance SR2026-I
Call SR2026-I
The SR2026-I competitive access call is now open for the Electron Spin Resonance (ESR) Laboratory.
- From: June 1, 2026
- To: June 30, 2026
The purpose of this call is to provide access to the facilities of the CENIEH Electron Spin Resonance (ESR) Laboratory for the development of scientific research projects involving gamma irradiation, UV bleaching, and sample measurements by X-band ESR spectroscopy at room temperature and low temperature (<120 K).
The competitive access programme will cover:
- Gamma irradiation of samples*.
- UV bleaching of samples*.
- X-band ESR measurements at room temperature performed by qualified users.
- X-band ESR measurements at low temperature (<120 K) performed by qualified users.
* Gamma irradiation and UV bleaching may only be carried out by the laboratory's scientific and technical staff.
Applications including only gamma irradiation services will not be considered under this call.
The maximum number of samples that may be processed is:
- 300 samples for room-temperature ESR measurements (teeth).
- 60 samples for low-temperature ESR measurements (quartz).
Samples intended for irradiation and/or bleaching must be received by the laboratory from the date on which the call results are published and no later than December 18, 2026. The laboratory reserves the right not to accept samples received after this deadline.
Irradiations will be carried out according to the order in which samples are received, although additional technical criteria may be considered to optimise irradiation schedules and experimental planning.
All ESR measurements must be completed by July 31, 2027.
Accepted applications under this competitive access call will be charged according to Rate A, as established in the current General User Fees, plus the applicable VAT and an additional 10% management fee.
Invoices will be issued upon completion of the work. Where advance payment is required, advance invoices may be provided upon request.
- To submit your proposal, register with the User Office before creating an application, or log in using your existing username and password. Complete the Competitive Access section and select the code SR2026-I.
