On December 4th 2018, the Secretary of State for Universities, Research, Development and Innovation, and the Presidency of the Agencia Estatal de Investigación at the Ministerio de Ciencia, Innovación y Universidades made an award for the acquisition of scientific-technical equipment, co-financed with ERDF funds for 2018, conceding a grant of 295,621.95 euros to the Consorcio CENIEH for the project "Enhancement of the Collections, Conservation and Restoration".

The facilities necessary for enhancing the Collections, Conservation and Restoration Area (CC&R) at the CENIEH are the following: 1) Refurbishment of the CC&R Area to guarantee optimal conditions for custody, by armoring the collections vault and acclimatizing rooms for the conservation of paleontological and archaeological materials. 2) Development of software for cataloguing and managing all the collections centrally. 3) Improvement of the CENIEH's reference collections by creating a space dedicated to Taphonomy and Experimental Archaeology.
The principal scientific and technical objective is to update and improve the current capacity for housing collections and develop the potential of fundamental lines of research, mainly within the CENIEH Archaeology Program.
